The Brockman Foundation Medical Research Grant Program has provided support for research being conducted by Dr. Clifford Dacso and Dr. Bert O’Malley and their team at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Dacso is the Philip J. Carroll, Jr. Professor in Translational Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor. Dr. O’Malley is the Thomas C. Thompson Distinguished Service Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the same institution.
The grant by the Brockman Foundation Medical Research Grant Program, provided for a term of three years, supports research towards ameliorating multiple chronic diseases.
A primary deliverable of the project, if successful, would be a bio marker that can predict the onset of chronic diseases well in advance of there being clinical evidence or expression of the onset of such diseases. This would enable early preventatives, interventions, and treatments to take place.
